The Suzuki Sirius series is a big upgrade from the SCX line. What really sets it apart is the reed design—the reeds are significantly longer than on any other chromatic harmonica. On top of that, the blow reeds for C and C♯ (holes 4 and 5) are exactly the same length, which means you won’t get that tonal inconsistency between those notes like you often do on Hohner, Seydel, or even the SCX models.
It also features tapered valves, designed to reduce contact with the reed plate resulting in less valve sticking. The comb is internally weighted with brass, which boosts its acoustic properties. Regular plastic combs are less rigid and tend to produce a thinner and brighter sound. The added brass increases rigidity and enhances the lower harmonics, giving the Sirius a richer tone and more volume. This isn’t just marketing talk—Suzuki has actually backed it up with serious acoustic testing.

The reeds come from Suzuki’s top-end Fabulous series and are made from a proprietary phosphor bronze alloy, developed in-house specifically for harmonica reeds. It’s a super durable material with a powerful, refined tone. The reed plates are 1.3 mm thick, just like those used in the Fabulous series.
Other high-end details include chrome-plated black matte cover plates, a silver-plated mouthpiece that’s extra smooth and slick, and tighter slide tolerances than the SCX, resulting in a very airtight and responsive instrument.
The Sirius comes in eight versions:
S-48s (12-hole) with a straight slide.
S-48cb (12-hole) bass harmonica with a cross slide, starting one octave below hole 1 of the 64. It shares the same range as a cello.
S-56s & c (14-hole) available in both straight and cross (zig-zag) slide configurations
S-64c (16-hole) with a cross slide only, which allows for larger holes and more airflow, especially in the low range
The 12-hole Sirius is available with either a straight or cross slide, in a model known as the Grégoire Maret G-48C. It features eye-catching dark blue cover plates and a specially coated mouthpiece for an exceptionally smooth playing experience. A bass version of the 12-hole Sirius is also offered, starting one octave below hole 1 of the 16-hole Sirius—covering the same range as a cello.
The 14-hole S-54S is available with either a straight or cross slide, while the 16-hole S-64C is offered exclusively with a cross slide.
For those who prefer a more natural look and feel, the G-48CW and S-64CW models are also available, each fitted with beautifully crafted walnut wood cover plates. While they look beautiful, I generally don’t recommend wooden covers. Wood can warp or twist over time, especially with changes in humidity. Surprisingly, wooden covers can also make the harmonica sound brighter—not because of the material, but because they typically have less internal space. The volume of air inside the cover plates has a bigger impact on tone than the material itself. Less space under the cover tends to push the sound toward a sharper, brighter character.
If you're ready to step into the world of high-performance chromatics, the Sirius is a top choice with tone, feel, and engineering that clearly stand above most factory-made instruments.
This is the quality-controlled Suzuki Sirius model. Harmonicas are mass-produced instruments, and due to limited time in factory production, they often leave the line with poorly gapped reeds, inconsistent tuning, and other issues that will affect playability.
Each of these harmonicas has been carefully checked and adjusted to correct the most common factory flaws. The result is an instrument that performs to the level we believe any stock harmonica should which makes it more enjoyable to play.
Please note: these are not custom harmonicas and shouldn't be compared to the fully customized models further down the page. If you're looking for greater response, better bends, overblows, improved volume, and refined tuning, take a look at the custom options below.

The Basic J.A. Custom Fabulous model is a great introduction to our custom harmonica lineup. Each one is individually numbered and carefully set up for improved performance over the stock version. This level includes our Basic reed work—a solid upgrade from factory setup, though not as refined as our higher-tier models.
You’ll get better response, smoother bends, and noticeably improved tuning compared to stock. The playability across the range is more balanced.
Reed curvature and gapping according to Basic specifications
Well-tuned to your choice of temperament (included at no extra cost)
The Advanced model takes everything from the Basic version and adds further refinements for serious players. The playability is smoother, you get more volume and the harmonica delivers a wider dynamic range.
If you’re stepping up from the Basic version, you’ll immediately notice greater control, volume, and flexibility.

The Master model is our most popular choice—and for good reason. It includes everything in the Basic and Advanced versions, plus deeper customization and performance enhancements across the board.
This model offers incredible volume and a wide expressive range. You can play whisper-quiet or push it to impressive power without losing control.
This is the pinnacle of what we offer for the Suzuki Sirius harmonica. Every detail is customized with precision and care, making this one of the finest custom diatonics available. Every single reed is removed and the reed plates are modified to extend reed life and increase the dynamic range. Holes are drilled and machine tapped for stainless steel reed screws, and all surfaces are flat-sanded to ensure maximum airtightness and precise fit. Each reed is carefully re-profiled, polished, and reattached using stainless steel screws for durability and optimal performance. The finest possible reed curvature is applied to give the best response, and the harmonica is then tuned to exacting standards for superb intonation. Finally, the reed plates undergo a treatment that prolongs reed life and helps maintain tuning stability over time.
