Suzuki BCH-48: Chord and Bass in one Instrument
The Suzuki BCH-48 is a unique harmonica that combines both chord and bass notes in a single harmonica. It’s a more affordable alternative to the SCH Chord Harmonica, partly because the chords are tuned with single reeds rather than octaves. In this model, each bass note uses two reeds tuned an octave apart for a rich, full sound, while the chords use single reeds for a more compact setup. This smart design lets you play both bass and chord parts at the same time—achieving the effect of two harmonicas being played by one person.
The BCH-48 features a heavy double-reed setup for the bass and a single-reed design for the chords, offering a practical and expressive option for ensemble and solo performers alike. The BCH-48 is easy to use thanks to its valve-free construction. Unlike the SCH-48, it doesn’t have any valves to separate blow and draw notes. This means there’s no risk of valve sticking due to condensation or saliva, and you won’t experience unwanted valve noise—making for a smoother, more reliable playing experience.

Suzuki BCH-48 Stock QC
This is the quality-controlled Suzuki BCH-48 Harmonica. Harmonicas are mass-produced instruments, and due to limited time in factory production, they often leave the line with poorly gapped reeds, inconsistent tuning, and other issues that will affect playability.
Each of these harmonicas has been carefully checked and adjusted to correct the most common factory flaws. The result is an instrument that performs to the level we believe any stock harmonica should which makes it more enjoyable to play.
