After a challenging journey spanning over five years of development, testing, and evaluation, we are proud to present these innovative cover plates. One of the key challenges we aimed to overcome was the compromise between size and functionality. Custom cover plates made from other materials than metal often suffer from a common predicament: either they are excessively large on the outside, resulting in a harmonica that feels cumbersome and unwieldy to play, or they are too small on the inside, leading to thin, sharp sounds and reeds hitting the inside of the covers. We resolved this issue with our unique design approach. These cover plates has an exceptionally slender profile, measuring less than 0.5mm at their thinnest point. Despite their delicate appearance, they are surprisingly robust and sturdy, thanks to the thoughtful selection of materials and intricate engineering. However, it's worth noting that they are not invulnerable and can break if subjected to significant force, much like other delicate instruments such as the violin. Our cover plates were meticulously designed to enhance both volume and sound quality. By implementing innovative acoustic principles, we have achieved a harmonica that exudes a mellower, louder and more focused sound.

These combs are engineered to optimize the instrument's airflow and resonance, resulting in an performance boost. What sets the diatonic Performance Custom Combs apart is their unique aerodynamic formed slots, strategically designed to increase the speed of airflow. This improvement translates into enhanced response and volume. Equipped with a one-of-a-kind internal brass-tube resonator system, the Performance Custom Combs take harmonica acoustics to the next level. These resonators ingeniously connect the brass elements of the top and bottom reed plates, amplifying vibrations and enriching overtones. The lower octave feature wider and bigger chambers which allow for a greater volume of air to pass through, resulting in a louder lower octave. The middle octave chambers maintain the same width as the previous performance combs. Lastly, the top octave chambers feature narrower and smaller dimensions, enhancing the response and making bending easier. Remarkably, despite these significant advancements, the outer appearance of the comb remains unchanged. When mounted in the harmonica, you won't notice or feel the difference in chamber sizes. The Performance Custom Combs seamlessly integrate into your harmonica, delivering a performance upgrade without compromising the instrument's familiar feel and playability.
