Top of the line reed work
The Top of the line reed work is the most extensive reed work available in the world! This reed work has an incredible response and volume. Every reed responds to the same small air pressure, the tuning and lifetime of the reeds is much longer than on a stock harmonica. Players will enjoy the great dynamics, able to play very soft and quiet to be able to play so loud that the ears start to hurt.

Below you will find some of the technical specifications for the Top of the line reed work.
Reeds
All reeds are removed from the reed plates, and the underside of each reed is flat sanded.
Reed plates
Every side of the reed plates are flat sanded to remove burrs around the reed slots that has been created during the stamping process at the Hohner factory. This improves the response and volume even more.

The ultimate reed curvature is set up on every reed.

At J.A. Harmonicas we have developed a unique embossing technique that enables us to emboss the reed slots with great precision.

Every windsaver is modified for an optimal and smooth action.
Tuning
Chromatic harmonicas are tuned to Equal temperament and Diatonic harmonicas are tuned to our own type of compromised tuning, see chart below.
Reeds
All reeds are re-profiled for a smoother and more dynamic playability, tuning marks are also removed.

Every reed is attached using screws to ensure a perfect fit between the reed and the reed plate.

Each reed slot is modified for improved dynamics and for longer reed life.
Tuning
All my custom diatonic harmonicas are Richter tuned to 442hz with a compromised temperament. However, I can accommodate your preference for an alternate temperament or tuning. Most players are happy with my compromised temperament
