I highly recommend the Master reed work for most players. It provides exceptional response on blow/draw notes, stable and effortless bends, and smooth overblows and overdraws. The sound is notably louder, richer in detail, and much more vibrant than a stock harmonica. Plus, you'll be able to play with greater dynamics and expression, bringing more life to your performance.
Here are some of the technical specifications for the Basic reed work.
Reed plate (diatonic)
The draw reed plate is carefully flat-sanded to improve airtightness.
Reeds
The optimal reed curvature is carefully set for each reed.
Reed plates
At J.A. Harmonicas, we’ve created a unique embossing technique that allows us to shape the reed slots with exceptional precision.
Windsavers (chromatic)
Each windsaver is adjusted for optimal performance and smooth action.
Reeds
All reeds are re-profiled & polished for smoother, more dynamic playability, and tuning marks are removed to prolong both the tuning and the reed’s lifespan.
Tuning
Chromatic harmonicas are tuned to Equal Temperament, while Diatonic harmonicas use my custom compromised tuning, as shown in the chart below.
All of my custom diatonic harmonicas are Richter tuned to 442Hz with a compromised temperament. However, I can customize the tuning to your preferred temperament if needed. Most players find my compromised temperament works perfectly for them.
